20-year-old driver Jack Dillon Young of Leakey, Texas was followed by witness Jody Kuchler, who told The Associated Press he followed Young, witnessing his erratic driving prior to colliding with a First Baptist Church of New Braunfels turtle-top shuttle bus on a two-lane road about 75 miles west of San Antonio, near Concan. Kuchler contacted the sheriffs’ offices in Uvalde and Real county, telling both the truck had crossed the center line several times, and that they “needed to get him off the road before he hit somebody.”

13 People Killed
After the crash occurred, Kuchler checked on both the bus and the truck. He reported that Young said, ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I was texting.’ A grand jury has indicted Young on multiple charges, including intoxication, manslaughter, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury. Multiple wrongful death suits have been filed.
