Driver Runs Red Light and Kills a Married Couple in Festus
On June 29, 2012 St. Louis Today reported on an accident in Festus Missouri that took the life of a husband and wife. A teenaged driver was in a pickup that was going northbound on Highway 61 and investigators say he ran a red light and collided with a Lexus. Both the passengers in the car were killed. The driver of the pickup was seriously injured and had to be flown by helicopter to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
This accident certainly could have been avoided as going through a red light is an indication that the driver was not keeping his mind on what he was doing. The police investigators have yet to present their reports on the accident so it is unclear at this point if criminal charges will be filed.
