Court Upholds Verdict to Pay Elevator Victims $10.6 Million Settlement

Elevators are there to make our lives easier, but they can malfunction. Sometimes when they do, it causes serious damage, and even more so when someone is inside them. That’s exactly what happened to one man.

He was forty-seven years old at the time of the incident and was doing carpentry work when the elevator he was in dropped two floors. As a result, he suffered from severe damage to his spine that resulted in him being unable to return to work.

It took two trials, but a jury eventually awarded this man $10.3 million. When appealed to the Supreme Court, they upheld the decision. It was found that negligence was the reason for the elevator to malfunction. Unfortunately, it took a long time for him to be awarded the money. However, the family couldn’t be more pleased to know that the long ordeal finally came to an end.
