When You Don’t Know Who’s Responsible, We’re Here to Help
When you are out at a game or spending time with the family, all you think about is having a good time. You put the busyness and cares of your day aside for a few hours to have fun. When you leave, laughing, you don’t consider the potential dangers that come with something as simple as crossing the street. With the increase in pedestrian accidents, is there something else that needs to be done?
An article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch discusses this increase in accidents. After a recent hit-and-run accident involving a father and son who were leaving a Blues hockey game, the parents of the young woman who was killed just eight weeks ago want more to be done about the problem.
They are calling for an overhaul of downtown traffic safety, particularly after public events. They suggest more street lights, traffic cops and billboard reminders telling drivers to yield to pedestrians are needed. As the article mentions, there have been almost as many pedestrian accidents thus far in 2015 (six) as there were in all of 2014 (seven). Charges have yet to be filed in any of these six accidents. These parents say someone needs to be held responsible.
