St. Charles County Charges Teenager in Fatal Car Crash
The driver of a car that went hill hopping on Greens Bottom road was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the resulting car wreck that killed one teenager and injured two others. The St. Louis dispatch reports that Michael Gianino was the driver of the car that reached 75 miles an hour on the road which has a posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour. The crash happened 10 months ago and there was some confusion as to who was driving at the time.
In addition to involuntary manslaughter charges the driver is facing assault charges as well due to other injuries sustained as a result of the accident. Mr. Gianino was sixteen at the time of the accident – he is now seventeen and will be tried as an adult. Obviously this is a very unfortunate circumstance for all the families involved, particularly due to the fact that accidents like this can easily be avoided.
