Could Time Limits for Personal Injury Lawsuits Change in Missouri Soon?

It is very important to know the statute of limitations if you are injured in any type of accident. This is the amount of time you have to file a lawsuit after the injury occurred. In Missouri, that time limit has been five years for a long time, but some new legislation may be changing it.

The Current Statute of Limitations in Missouri

According to Senator Dan Hegeman, the five-year time limit has been in place since 1939. He claims that in those days, having such a long statute of limitations made sense because of the lack of transportation and communication options in those days. Today, he stresses that there is no need for such a long time limit. The Senator introduced the bill to change it earlier in 2018.
