Twenty-Nine Car Accident Closes I-70 for Four Hours

There are many things that are uncontrollable when you are driving. The weather and other drivers are two of the biggest things that you have no control over. When the weather causes driving conditions to be unsafe, you can do everything you know how to avoid an accident, but sometimes, other drivers lose control or aren’t paying attention.

An article on KSDK.com reported that a Mother’s Day accident occurred around 5pm on Mother’s Day in St. Charles on I-70. The accident, which was weather related, involved twenty-nine vehicles, including a horse trailer, with horses in tow, and took crews four hours to clear.

The reporter talked to the mother of one of the accident victims. She had seen her son earlier in the day to celebrate Mother’s Day and got a call that her son was in the accident. Upon arriving at the scene, she was devastated to see the number of vehicles involved; particularly the way in which her son’s car seemed to be sandwiched between two other vehicles. She was relieved, however, to be able to hug him after he was away from his car.

Nine people were taken to the hospital, all with minor injuries. All nine people and the horses are expected to be okay.
