Woman Secretly Films Father’s Nursing Home Neglect
A Twin Cities woman has accused the nursing home that was caring for her father, a World War II veteran, of serious neglect. Do you fear your loved one is undergoing similar neglect? The St. Louis nursing home neglect attorneys at Hoffman & Gelfman want you to understand that all patients have a right to quality care.
A Helpless Victim
Wendy Rudek, the victim’s daughter, installed a hidden camera inside her 94-year-old father’s room at Birchwood Senior Living. He has dementia, and is legally blind to the extent he needs help drinking and eating. Prior to turning to camera evidence for proof, she had undergone numerous conferences with the facility to discuss his hunger, thirst, and odor from neglect.
A Daughter Strives for Justice
Video revealed her dad was left 3 days without a change of clothes, and food and drink dropped-off and disregarded, leaving her father to drink what little he could find – syrup and lotion – to quench his thirst. The neglect was reported to the state, and an investigation started. Between 1-to-2 million Americans 65 and older are abused in such facilities annually.
