Two People are Dead in Illinois Motorcycle Accident
Motorcycle accidents occur all the time during the spring and summer months, and many times they happen because the other drivers on the road just aren’t paying attention. That’s what happened to a couple near St. Louis in a recent, tragic motorcycle accident, and this one could have absolutely been avoided.
According to the article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the accident happened in Belleville, near St. Louis. The woman who was driving the car that caused the crash was backing out of a local fast food restaurant. Although it was late at night, she should have been able to see the 1999 Harley Davidson coming down the street. The motorcycle was carrying two passengers, and they both died at the scene of the crash.
The article states that the driver of the car was taken to the hospital for minor injuries, and no charges were filed against her. Even so, it’s clear that this was a case of negligence. When you’re backing out onto the street, it’s important to keep a close eye out for any vehicles and approach the street with caution until you are sure that the roadway is clear. It’s a simple step, but had it been followed, this accident wouldn’t have happened.
