Sears Recalls 795,000 Dehumidifiers
The Sears, Roebuck & Company has issued a recall of 795,000 Kenmore dehumidifiers manufactured by LG Corporation and sold by Sears, Roebuck & Company and K-Mart stores. The law firm of Hoffman & Gelfman encourages anyone who has purchased this item to stop using it immediately. Dehumidifiers are especially useful in the summer when humidity is high but Sears warns that this product can overheat, smoke and possibly even catch fire.
There are 35, 50 and 70 pint models of this item with the Kenmore logo located on the top front panel. There are fan and humidity controls on the top front panel and some are also remote controlled. The products being recalled were manufactured between 2003 and 2005. They can cause fires and Sears reports over one hundred reports of incidents involving $7,000,000 in property damage and 3 reports of smoke inhalation injuries.
