Serious Accident Leaves Injuries in In Its Wake
You can be obeying all traffic laws, driving safely, and still be involved in a serious automobile accident on the highway. This is what happened to three drivers on Interstate 70 during their Sunday afternoon drive.
The November 8 accident occurred when 20-year-old Zachary T. Dunlop, from Wentzville, crashed into the three vehicles that driving slowly due to a separate accident up ahead. Dunlop, who has been charged with driving while intoxicated, first skidded his 1999 Mazda Protege into a Chrysler and a 2004 GMC Envoy. The 37-year-old driver of the Chrysler, also from Wentzville, and the 44-year-old man from Winfield who was driving the Envoy were both uninjured.
A 34-year-old man from Troy was driving the third vehicle, a 2009 Nissan Quest. He was struck after Dunlop lost complete control of his Mazda and it overturned before striking the Nissan.
Dunlop was taken to SSM St. Joseph Hospital Lake St. Louis and treated for minor injuries. The three other drivers were not injured. This same scenario often results in serious injuries for the innocent drivers and their passengers.
