The victim was a fifty-four-year-old man, who was shot twice during the robbery; once in the head, and once in the back. His fiancee, a fifty-seven-year-old woman was not harmed. According to the woman, the two unidentified men entered the home demanding money and car keys. Once they were given these items, they shot the man and left the house.

According to an article on the St. Louis Post-Dispatch website, the number of such killings was higher in 2013 than it was in 2014. This death brings the total of killings in 2013 to 120. It was 113 in 2012.
