“Candy Man” Accused Of Over-Prescribing Pain Medication In Medical Malpractice Case
As a doctor, Dr. Julio Diaz took an oath to promote good health in his patients, and never cause harm. However, of the many patients who were prescribed an incredible amount of pain medication by Diaz, eleven of them have died. Others are suffering from severe drug addiction.
According to the article on the UPI website, Dr. Diaz’s prescription methods have earned him the nickname “The Candy Man.” He has been arrested on drug trafficking charges, as well as for illegally prescribing two different narcotics.
One California woman has come forward to speak out against Dr. Diaz, saying that he prescribed her a very complex regimen for controlling her pain. The dosages of the pills increased over time, and before she knew it, she found herself exhibiting drug-seeking behavior that was a lot like the behavior that people demonstrate when they are addicted to street drugs.
This woman is seeking compensation for medical malpractice. She states that Dr. Diaz has caused her an incredible amount of physical and emotional pain and suffering, and she deserves to be compensated.
