Hit-and-Run Accident Kills Pedestrian
There are many pedestrians that cross roads and walk near roads every day. When a pedestrian walks on the road, there’s a reasonable expectation that they will have the right of way. When a pedestrian is hit by a vehicle, they can incur many different types of injuries and potentially die from those injuries.
An article in St. Louis Today reports that 29-year old Nathaniel Thomas was identified as the victim of a hit-and-run accident that occurred on a recent Sunday evening. The accident happened in Fairground Park. Thomas was hit around 5:25 pm Sunday on Vandeventer Ave inside Fairground Park. The report is that a white Pontiac G6, who was in the northbound lane speeding south, hit Thomas when he was crossing the street. Thomas was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A pedestrian accident can result in a multitude of injuries. The most common injuries are:
- Whiplash
- Fractured or broken bones
- Spinal cord industry
- Traumatic brain injury
- Death
Even the most minor injuries can prevent the victim from doing things he/she would normally do or enjoying activities they enjoyed before being hit by a vehicle. An accident can even render them unable to function in every day life. The driver of the vehicle or a third-party can possibly be held responsible.
