Hospital Employee Sentenced For Infecting Dozens Of People With Hepatitis C
One former hospital employee was sentenced recently for infecting dozens of patients with Hepatitis C, according to an article on the St. Louis Post-Dispatch website. The thirty-four-year-old man would steal pain killers in the hospitals he worked in, and replace them with saline-filled syringes that had his own blood on them. Many patients used these syringes, and now those patients have the same strain of Hepatitis C the employee has.
The New Hampshire man expressed how sorry he was, as the victims were given the opportunity to tell him about the incredible amount of pain they were in because of what he had done. For these patients, life will never be the same again. The employee stated that it was his addiction to painkillers that caused him to replace the medications with tainted saline.
