Road Rage Incident Leads to Jail time and Forfeiture of Gun Permit
A man who was arrested last fall in a road rage incident has received a suspended 5 year sentence but will spend thirty days in jail for aiming a handgun at another driver in a road rage incident. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on March 4 that the man in question was making a left hand turn while next to another left turning vehicle. He shouted at the other driver who responded with an obscene gesture. That was when the accused waved his 9 mm handgun at that driver. A police officer witnessed the entire incident and took the man into custody immediately.
The danger of road rage escalating with firearms or even physical confrontation when both drivers stop their cars is unacceptable. There are too many incidences of others being hurt or scared by witnessing these events. It was good that the police were close by to calm things down when the aforementioned incident occurred but many others have not been as fortunate.
