St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Warns Patients of Possible Meningitis Exposure
The St. Louis Post Dispatch recently reported that the company that produced the steroid that has been linked to the meningitis outbreak had supplied another drug used at St. Elizabeth Hospital. So far there has been only one meningitis case investigated that was caused by a heart injection that this particular drug is used for. The hospital, located in Belleville Illinois, has notified all of the 26 patients that received this drug during heart surgery.
There have been over 300 reported cases of meningitis after use of a steroid injection from this manufacturer. As a result of the meningitis outbreak all of this manufacturer’s products have been recalled. Any company that has violated regulations should not only be punished by the authorities they should also pay for the medical, financial and emotional harm they have caused.
