Warrenton Man Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter

The man driving a car that went out of control and overturned, ejecting his passenger, on Sunday night has been charged with involuntary manslaughter following the passenger’s death. The story, reported on Tuesday October 23, 2012, is especially tragic as the passenger was the driver’s father. The Missouri state police say that the two men were coming home from a VFW club.  The driver is being held on $50,000 bail.

There was a toxicology test given at the scene but the results were not available as of the writing of the story.  The driver did however admit to police officers that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Countless accidents and deaths are caused by this mistake every year throughout the US.  The nature and result of this accident should serve as a powerful reminder that anyone under the influence of alcohol should always let someone else do the driving.
