Toyota Issues Recall of Over 1 Million Vehicles
The Toyota Motor Corporation has issued a recall of 907,000 vehicles that have faulty airbags and another 385,000 Lexus IS vehicles for faulty windshield wipers. The St. Louis Post Dispatch reported on January 30, 2013 that most of the airbags were in Corolla models or Corolla Matrix models manufactured between 2001 and 2004.
The airbags have been inflating due to a false signal generated by a damaged computer chip. Some accidents, abrasions and other minor injuries have occurred as a result of the malfunction.
The faulty wipers are in three models of the Lexus IS series made between May of 2005 and October of 2011. The auto accident experts at Hoffman & Gelfman advise anyone with one of these models to contact the manufacturer or dealership for more information.
