St. Louis Man Crashes after Assaulting Wife on the Highway
Car crashes that involve small children are traumatic enough without adding a domestic assault and a police chase. However, that is exactly what happened this week when the Berkley Police Department received reports of a husband and wife fighting on the side of a St. Louis highway. Once police officers arrived on the scene, the man returned to his minivan and drove away. According to an article on the St. Louis Post-Dispatch website, a police chase ensued, which resulted in the man striking a light pole while trying to negotiate a turn.
What police officers did not know was that the couple’s three children were in the backseat of the minivan. Fortunately, the children were not seriously hurt. They were treated for minor injuries by paramedics at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the minivan fled the scene of the crash, and was not immediately located.
