Dog Attack Seriously Injures Two-Year-Old Girl
Dog attacks can happen anywhere, and a dog doesn’t necessarily have to be vicious in order to strike. A recent attack occurred within a family, by the family dog, and it involved a young, two-year-old girl and her mother.
The dog that was involved was a five-year-old Rottweiler. The mother, her daughter and the dog had been taking a walk around the family farm. When they returned to the house, the little girl was running around a swing set in the yard. The dog suddenly ran toward the girl and started biting her. The mother immediately intervened, and she put herself between the dog and her daughter. The Rottweiler proceeded to attack the mother, biting her on the head and in several other places. The dog finally walked away.
The little girl was taken by helicopter to a hospital in St. Louis. She was treated for bites on her hip, head and lower abdomen. The dog had never been aggressive until that day. He was removed from the family and impounded. There was no word as to whether or not he was put down.
