Haier Manufacturing Agrees to Settlement in Blender Recall Delay
The U.S. Product Safety Commission has accepted an $850,000 fine from the Haier Manufacturing Company in a dispute over when they should have reported incidents with a blender they manufacture. A company is supposed to report incidents with products immediately to the Commission. Haier had received reports of incidents concerning the product between January of 2007 and September of 2009 but did not report them until October of 2009.
The blenders in question were sold in stores from October of 2006 until October of 2009. The nut that holds the blade assembly can come loose and this could potentially lead to breakage of the blades and the glass jar causing a possible laceration hazard.
Our legal professionals at Hoffman & Gelfman encourage anyone with these blenders to stop using them immediately and return them to where they were purchased. If you have been injured by this or any other defective product the St. Louis personal injury attorneys at our office would gladly speak to you and explain your rights to compensation.
